Oh fuck, I thought the deciding factor was wearing or owning a carpenter's belt!

If you can’t get the boots the belt is the top choice for a substitute. Definitely more lesbian whilst wearing the belt than when the belt is stored. If you can’t get a truck I’ve heard that taking up softball can still net the necessary points to meet butch lesbian standards.

Also power tools -- use early, use often. But not while playing softball. (Unless the rules have changed.)

Oh wow you’re getting into some advanced lesbianism there.

I dunno, I know women mechanics (including one who worked on jet engines). I think it gets way more advanced.

Oh lesbianism is like, a lifelong course of learning anything ever deemed masculine by any society. Butchness isn’t how people just are, it’s a dedicated study. Mechanics, maths, short haircuts, sports. Choosing between majoring in sports-lesbian or diesel-lesbian alone is a time consuming process.

By these standards, I a mainly heterosexual woman and many of my heterosexual women friends rate higher on the scale of signs showing "apparent lesbianism" than many of the genuine lesbians we know.

Also, once women get to a certain age, we're mostly invisible. But if we get noticed at all when out and about, if we are not with a male person/partner and clearly not making extraordinary efforts to conform to sexist stereotypes like the Kardashians, we are likely to be "read as" lesbians by others.

Oh yeah, any older woman without a husband in tow or with short hair is a lesbian. Lesbians are basically any woman who is not attractive to the man making the judgement.

LOL, gotta disagree with you about the attractive to men part. Lots of men who dismissively judge women to be lesbians coz we are over a certain age and/or have XYZ characteristic nevertheless find us sexually attractive. Individual men are capable of being sexually attracted to anyone or any thing. Men deem women to be lesbians not coz of our lack of attractiveness in their eyes, but coz of our obliviousness to them and the fact that our lives do not revolve around trying to make ourselves attractive to them. But the very fact that some women don't give a shit about what men think of us is a definite turn-on for some men.

Maths?! Oh shit.

Oh yeah, if we follow the ‘lesbians are masculine women’ line maths is right up there in lesbian skills.

Might as well add coding and FPS games then

Oh god yes I knew I was forgetting video game-lesbians.
