Big debate a few months back about this in GC circles.

Basically these products cost a few pounds for the decent stuff but pennies for the cheapest. If a woman or girl can't afford pennies in a rich Western country then they have bigger problems than just the period products, either they won't be able to afford food as well or they are being abused. Those bigger problems won't be addressed by this so who's it helping?

It seems like there are a few liberal feminists raging against the fact they are female and have periods. They argue that women having any additional cost in their lives is a form of discrimination. So it maybe benefits ambitious women in financial competition with men where the margins are very, very tight?

Anyway, even if there is not good reason it means the arseholes in the Scottish government get to broadcast how progressive and caring they are without doing anything to actually really help anyone significantly. And some more plum roles in the civil service can be created to run this scheme which they can hand out to their mates.

Of course all women will still pay for these products through their taxes, the poor especially through sales tax on other products.
