Sounds of Silenced Science is a salute to all of those who found their own path, while sometimes walking alone through a maze of information and disinformation. It is a solid tribute to those who possessed the confidence to methodically question reality presented from without, but who knew another truth arising from within. We raise a toast to science, as this questioning is its fundamental definition, and the individual trust in this science, multiplied by many, is what united us, and ultimately, at least temporary, saved us from an eternity of lock-downs. The Adverse Events featuring The Spike Girls might have been born out of good fun, but doesn't life usually tell you you're on the right track if even hard work comes by effortlessly? Thanks to four special ladies for the delightful collaboration.

Obviously I'm a limited filter, but I try. I actually skip most. I listen (and peak/watch) most stuff at 3x speed, and getting faster over time with practice. I find normal people in person sound like they're drunk and underwater - including myself when I speak.

I don't really understand what that sentence means. You're familiar with some Americans? (Most people on Earth are familiar with some aspects of America). Out of all the countries in the world, the US probably contains the most diverse set of persons in the world.

Back on topic: I am sure the Canadian police also would resort to violence to remove someone from private property. It's normal. Perhaps not the same actions called for on Twitter though.

It's no secret I'm Canadian. I've also lived 10 years in the US, in New York, San Francisco, Austin, etc. I now live again in Windsor, Ontario, just across the river from Detroit, viewed from my window. I'm very familiar with Americans. My land lady is one, though she hasn't been here all year.

Fair point. Implied sarcasm somewhat rides on speaking to the choir, which can shade into an echo chamber. I was going to say that I hope that people who actually believe that COVID-19 is a serious, deadly pandemic don't visit here, but I would take seriously anyone who believes that and makes good arguments for it. I should welcome anyone who has very different views that are based on sound steps of reasoning. I have to be open to that if I want to keep seeking the truth.

I get you and understand. In this country (not the US as Jason knows) it is important to preserve the wa or peace so I make a concession for the gym because it is close, not expensive, and not crowded and I'd like to continue going there. As soon as I'm outside the gym, the mask comes off but then I'm just some anonymous foreign person who maybe didn't read the memo. Only at the gym I follow the dictum: when in Rome, do as the Romanians do.

I never wear one except twice to the beer store and twice to Walmart this summer, and even half of all those times my bandana had "fallen". If I didn't need those things and wasn't accompanied by my big talking but ultimately cowardly/compliant friend who drove then I wouldn't wear it on principle - just as everywhere else, including the grocery and hardware stores where I take no shit even when they try to give it. Fuck the paranoid idiots. They can be paranoid as they like, but they get ZERO control over me.

I never wear one except when I go to the gym. I keep one in my bag and put it on just before going in. Then, when I get over in the corner, I pull it down so my nose is clear. Otherwise I couldn't get my heart rate up without fainting or worse. But the other day I just spaced out and forgot to put it on. Nobody complained. I go along with the charade because the staff are kind and some customers are really paranoid. So am I a hypocrite? I suppose. Outside the gym maybe only one in ten people are not wearing masks and we sometimes exchange conspiratorial glances.
