Why aren't stalked women ever told to get a gun for self-defense?

Several of the men in my family have at one time considered arming the womenfolk, and each time decided against it.

A gun and classes don't turn women into Calamity Jane so much as potential calamity Jane. Their own gun being used against them is a real risk.

I would agree. In fact adults are probably slightly below children in terms of intelligence. Especially men.

I must have seen a hundred or more movies where the actress has a gun pointed at the villain and he just takes it off her because he knows she doesn't have the guts to pull the trigger. I've never seen anyone say such scenes are unrealistic.

That doesn't sound realistic at all. Usually when you have a gun pointed at you you tend to do as you're told. Real people feel afraid for their lives, unlike most Hollywood characters.

And I also think people want to think of women as incapable of doing anything bad. Everyone wants to think of women as perfect special angels, and anything they do wrong is really a man's fault somehow. This is because instincts regard women as 183859606082827299549x more valuable than men. Even courts give women only 1/6th of the punishment a man would get for the same crime.

Well, the men of my family tend to like guns, the women don't. For their own self-defense the menfolk have considered trying to get the womenfolk to carry. But frankly, a lot of women aren't suited to going around packing heat, and it may be a liability if an aggressor was able to use it against them.

Women are actually better gun handlers than men due to their center of gravity. The supposed preferences you describe are clearly the result of social norms. Kids don't show the same preferences (despite what recent "studies" run by TRAs will tell you). Most kids like toy guns, until parents shame the girls for playing with them. On the other hand men get told they have to defend women because women are supposedly worth more than them.

Testosterone gives guys a definitive edge in the aggression department. I sparred with my niece her whole life, she knows in theory how to defend herself. In times of extreme stress she still reverts to girly slapping tho. Deer in headlights, except deer don't have guns you can take from them.
