I get the logic, but is this really a victory? How are you going to enforce it? It is illegal for prohibited people to own/possess a firearm, yet most of the gun violence is perpetrated by them. Also, a lot of these firearms are either illegal under IL state law, or they have accessories (e.g. extended magazines or they have been altered) that are illegal. The laws are not stopping them and it doesn't appear that the people who get caught are doing a lot of time for possessing them. Not sure if another law on the books is truly a victory or just a political feather in the cap.
