Seems like one of the greatest leaders of all time to me. Of course I only see snapshots, and not the day to day experience of having him as my president. I know little of the actual policies and actions he's taken, but he has excellent skills and abilities to relate to other humans when he speaks in public.

Besides those above-ground yellow gas lines that must get hit by cars a lot, one of the weirdest things about Russia is how people live in apartment towers, then have land on the edge of the city for gardening, and also rent a horribly dilapidated storage garage for their junk.

One thing that impresses me is how the areas with real houses typically include tons of gardens, fruit trees, and all that. Even in the apartment tower areas, plants are often left to grow on their own without someone coming along and mowing it all down. I dunno, maybe that's just the poverty, but it can seem like it's allowing nature to flourish too.
