The last I heard Haggis which is made from sheep's offal is the reason the Scots have such abysmal health, where according to some reports the life expectancy for a Scottish male is at 49yrs the lowest in Europe.

Offal is bad for you is why old dogs that have been eating canned dog food all their lives are crippled with arthritis and rheumatism.

This made me wonder if "offal" and "awful" have an etymological connection. Surprisingly, they do not.

According to Scottish government statistics, the life expectancy for Scottish men is 77.1 years. I have no reason to suspect that haggis has anything to do with longevity.
