If that were the case, this man wouldn't have been in prison for decades. Cases like this usually indicate that the cops or the DA fucked up, sometimes it's poor defense, but the legal system and policing as a whole are to blame. Until the goal is justice and not expediency due to politics and chasing stats, this will continue.
