Ah this is a tragedy. I guess the original wood was still in there, but it's now being burned up as I write this. I'm glad I got to see it a few years ago before this happened.

They were renovating it and although it's not officially outted, only that is mentioned as cause off the record, so some accident.

This is certainly a historic tragedy. Landmarks such as this do not exist in the US, so there's no historical comparison.

This cathedral was completed over 200 years before Renaissance explorers set sail West.

It survived dynasties and revolutions.

Succumbed to renovation.
