NO, Europe won't be gone; Europe will be *back. It's the EU that will be gone, and the sooner the better.

Which is why the EU was so pissy about coming to a deal. If the UK got a halfway decent agreement a lot of the others would also want out.

The EU was sold as an economic trading block to the masses, not a political union. The politicians were using the trading block to try to force a political union.

I'm sure there's some grand idea behind this of a single world with no nations, no borders, no racism and cake for all.

The problem is this, is it requires totally annihilating every difference in race, ethnicity and local variables of culture. Understandably people are not happy to see their culture shredded 'for the greater good', or being turned into a minority in their ancestral territory.
