I actually had a concentration (like a minor) in gender studies in college. I took this one class that was 3 hours once a week. We all hated it SO much except the devout misandrists (pardon me, feminists) who got to spout crap like "All Men Are Rapists." I made a large art installation out of/in reply to that one. I know these things are standard today but it was pretty cutting edge back then.

The professor was this super bitter old woman and we had to listen to her tell these sad stories about when she was 9 and some boy in school used to make fun of her by saying, "Whatever her name was sucks cock." She wasn't even old enough to know what sucking cock was and he probably wasn't either. But she "knew" it was "bad" and "shameful." Like hell, lady, that was 70 years ago! Ever heard of therapy? We hated that little boy for what he put us and the world through turning that prune into a misandrous "feminist."

Supposedly it was a requirement to have a concentration and most of the department heads of concentrations I wanted wouldn't sign off without certain requirements but gender studies (or women's studies, actually at my school at the time) was happy to have anyone tick their box so they were super easy at signing off. Then, after I graduated, I found out from the registrar that you can just put down anything and no one checks. So now I minored in communications -- which honestly is equally useless.

I guess that means you can always fall back on a career in a call center ;]

Many Journalism programs started changing their department name to "Communications" back in the early 90s.
