If you are convicted of hate-mongering/spreading hate/calling for violence (which Marine was) it's customary to have a psych evaluation done (Which can result in better treatment {and less jail time because of forced treatment} but also less jail-time because if you were in a psychotic state it's counted less. But if you were to be found 'fully' good minded your punishment can get harser/you get on some lists)
