In his 1995 State of the Union address, President Bill Clinton said:

"We are a nation of immigrants.. but we are a nation of laws. Our nation is rightly disturbed by the large numbers of illegal aliens entering our country...

"Illegal immigrants take jobs from citizens or legal immigrants, they impose burdens on our taxpayers...

"That is why we are doubling the number of border guards, deporting more illegal immigrants than ever before, cracking down on illegal hiring, barring benefits to illegal aliens, and we will do more to speed the deportation of illegal immigrants arrested for crimes...

"It is wrong and ultimately self-defeating for a nation of immigrants to permit the kind of abuse of our immigration laws that has occurred in the last few years.. .and we must do more to stop it."

He received a standing ovation in Congress for saying this.

Immigrants are the one helping your country. They create jobs and value.

If they outcompete americans by that much, such smart and educated individuals won't commit crimes anyway.

Immigration harms specific industries.

Talk to short haul truck drivers. They cannot compete against illegal immigrants who do not pay their load insurance.

Talk to hotel housekeepers, which used to be a unionized job with benefits.

Talk to union construction workers, who cannot compete when contractors hire undocumented workers who work at a fraction of the pay, and are easily disposed when they get injured.

Talk to the thousands upon thousands of tech workers and developers and programmers that lost their jobs to H1B visas and had to TRAIN their replacements.

Why do we have an inability to train enough nurses and need to import them?

Functioning economy is a stretch. Not everyone goes to college. Why do you force young people to compete for their first jobs with older immigrants?

This is off the top of my head, and not some airy fairy myth I KNOW these people.

This sounds cold but not every potential immigrant's problems are our problem. Not every problem is our problem. The Americans who are hurt the most are the ones who need the low level jobs.

Immigration harms specific industries.

No, this is not true however. It doesn't harm the INDUSTRY. Immigration doesn't prevent innovation, It fuels it.

I mean If volunteer immigrants want to work in USA to help the country, I don't see anything wrong with this. If It's so cheap, you can probably even hire some. i wouldn't mind immigrants cleaning my home for $10 per month.

Nice. It's what I suspected the entire time. You just want slave labor. How disgusting.

Immigration doesn't prevent innovation, It fuels it.

Nobody is innovating. Nobody is going to make a breakthrough cleaning your home.

People voluntarily wanting to work = slave labor got it'!

Nobody is innovating. Nobody is going to make a breakthrough cleaning your home.

Then innovators will be able to keep their jobs and immigrants won't be able to take it!
