And like half the side characters. But that part isn't a huge deal, it's relatively easy to find people who can do the voices well enough. This guy alone could probably do it and because he's a nobody they could pay him peanuts, although they would be better off casting someone else to do Rick.

The bigger problem is he's the co-creator and much of the humor comes directly from him. Dan Harmon makes the show compelling and gives it plot and character development, but the bizzareness of it that makes the show unique comes from Justin Roiland. There are people who can imitate this and you can continue getting an OK show that will coast on it's success for a few seasons, but it will always feel a bit too formulaic and cheap without Roiland AND Harmon.

No, Roiland is out. His partner, Harmon, will remain on the job. Roiland was also accused of texting an underage girl and that had an influence on the decision I expect.

Sad that in today's society any accusation that the media decides to focus on and cram down everyone's throats has nearly the same effect as being guilty.
Sure, they aren't in jail yet but they might as well be, everyone just automatically thinks they're guilty and it's even a risk to bring any of it up, the whole hypocrisy of innocent until proven guilty.

The whole way we do life and everything seems really screwed up to me.

I remember how some people thought watching Rick and Morty was a virtue signal that you were smart and liked science.

I was in DC for an event that happened to be the same say as some kind of “pro science” march back in 2017. It was really just an anti-Trump rally/temper tantrum session disguised as something more noble (this was before the left abandoned any pretense of caring about optics). I lost count of how many people I saw dressed as Rick.

Thinking that watching a certain cartoon means you are smart…the perfect mentality for a group whose entire personality is centered around what media they consume.

The show itself…entertaining and some of the episodes had clever plot lines. It felt like after the second season, they just dialed the crudity up to 11. It was like they couldn’t go more than ten seconds without it.

It's ironically a good example of the dumbass "pro science woo hoo" American mindset. Their idea of science is basically "magic except not gay" or some shit.

I enjoyed the show well enough but Rick and Morty's brand of Sci-fi is basically just a fantasy wizard with a metallic coat of paint. Good for fiction but utterly divorced from reality the same way a wizard in his tower making magical implements is just as realistic as a mad scientist in his garage making a spaceship.

Naturally the proles don't understand science since they will listen to mostly the popsci stuff ironically you can read the adds in that to see all the penis enlargement pills and get the idea of who the target audience is.

After season 3 or so it kinda started to suck. This recent season was kinda good though. Had some decent one off ideas again that were entertaining.

Huh, didn't hear about that, but unless there's more to it, it seems like he's getting in trouble for suggesting an underage fan was jailbait, might be followed around by FBI, should be a camwhore when she turns 18, and he liked to use the word faggot. I don't see anything necessarily nefarious unless there's more to it. Seems hypocritical that it is the kind of humor that inspired people to watch Rick n Morty, but they're bringing out the pitchforks now that the ex has made accusations.

I listened to a 23 year old tell me how this show was revolutionary. It's funny sure. But fuck. Revolutionary? These are the people who watch this show, and anyone who would call a cartoon revolutionary would certainly turn on its creator for this.

They're just blown away. To a person that age, the greatest show in their lives previously had been SpongeBob. They didn't have awesome 90s cartoons, they had Cartoon Network.

Even a bunch of the released episodes have weird stuff going on. Out the top of my head I remember one episode where Morty gets assaulted by a pedophile jellybean and that other one where Rick abandons Morty in favor of two crows and they play it like it a story about a romantic break up and Morty is trying 'get back with his ex'.
