The only prior conviction we are aware of Smollett having on his records was a misdemeanor for giving false information to law enforcement in 2007

I'm sensing a pattern...

The force is strong in this one.

after seeing his creative director suggested the noose..

why the fuck aren't all the conspirators on trial?

and given the impact this might have had (riots and shit) ..

yeah, our justice system is .. just them .. the justhem system!

I think he absolutely deserves some prison time.

Definitely. Had he pleaded guilty then I could see a non-custodial sentence. He lied, plainly and repeatedly. He stirred racial hatred for personal gain, refusing to accept his actions when it was obvious he staged this stunt. Even after being convicted his immediate response is to announce his plans to appeal.

No remorse, no clemency.

Just for the amount of time and money wasted.

Had he gotten away with it what would have been the harm?

The harm is caused by all the violence and racism that is incited by it. This was an extremely prominent and powerful hoax because of his celebrity and that makes it far worse than any other racism hoax. If it hadn't been exposed so early the media would have replayed this for years. Hollywood and leftist organizations would forever use this to push their anti white agenda and use thier manufactured fear for countless acts of evil. There is no way to account for all the harm that would come from this if he had gotten away with it.

"Society would not benefit from paying to incarcerate Jussie Smollett. He is not a danger to society, he has suffered enough to deter anyone in his shoes from doing anything like this ever again"

I disagree. Likeminded people will look at this and see that he might have got away with it if he was a little less massively incompetent, or if a few more any means necessary assholes within the system had decided to look the other way.

Al Sharpton thinks he needs to get 15 to 20.

Is he going to repay or can he repay all the investigation work that went into this? And what were his intentions and the outcome of his motivational actions? He absolutely needs a very long jail term to dissuade others from doing this which is what the law is partially about for justice

90 days with a 300 pounds con who is given all the Viagra he wants should suffice.

My take is....he was trying to improve his brand....and it blew up in his face. His ruined career is pretty good punishment enough....I don't think they should send this young man to prison. Let the Chicago PD recoup their losses with the civil suit.

many others had been doing hate crime hoaxes and getting away with it, so it probably felt like a good idea at the time.

His career isn't ruined. Hollywood can't wait to cast him in things. He's still a hero to them.
