Whatever anyone thinks of nuclear electric generation, it seems the best alternative for the near future at least.

I'd like to see more small modular water turbines. ALL of the water that flows over Niagara Falls also flows down the Detroit River. They could install THOUSANDS of small modular water turbines along the many miles of concentrated river. Sink them to the bottom, anchor them midway, and/or float them.

They could tie into the Windsor and/or Detroit power grids and right there along is also a the way is the Enrico Fermi Nuclear Generating Station which already has some infrastructure.

That's small stuff compared to building giant water turbines to harness the perpetual ocean currents off the coasts. Scottland is making progress with this.

And then of course, if they can make small modular nuclear reactors then they can surely make modular thorium molten salt reactors.
