The Incas used to pay their taxes in labour so the government literally had so much man power they had to make jobs for people. It surprised me they seem to be using less of their land for farming now than in the past while many counties are going the other direction.

I also wonder is some of the terraces were made to create stability rather than just being for food. They have a lot of mud slides when it rains which can be deadly. Maybe maintaining those terraces would help with that.

Interesting. Of course, nothing wrong with combining the two: terraces AND deep root systems to fight erosion.

"but they were so primitive back then, look at us, we have platic and nuclear power plants, space stations and - Oh, wait, famine, epidemics..." We so smurt.

So uh, what part of your world view has been formed by actually visiting the places that you speak about?

All of this was formed by going to Peru.

Where was your worldview formed?

Oh, let me guess, the land of critical race theory. You are only allowed a view if you meet the correct racial and democratic criteria, plebs.
