We also have /s/space

The image looks very interesting. My first impression is that the center of that galaxy ran out of energy for some reason. The galaxies tend to grow from the inside-out. We see that the oldest stars are at the outside and the youngest at the inside and at the spiral arms. So something is giving these new stars new energy and new matter.
If my impression is correct, we should not see many young stars. I may verify this idea with the data from telescope. We will discover soon.

What a clever idea! You don't have to dig holes and you get good drainage from the beds. I too desire to plant some herbs and natives where I am but the best available spot is actually a shallow depression in the ground. I was thinking of filling it in with soil and having a mound too, rather than raised timber borders which is the usual affair around here. I'll look more into the hill culture system before I make a decision.

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Generally speaking how this always goes is to simply assert all evidence of a globe is the result of a conspiracy. Of course at every step of the way you're proposing additional steps, and usually combined with rejecting induction as evidence. I generally get banned once I start requiring flatties demonstrate angular diameter measurements using their own pocket change, since you can demonstrate that it works. From that demonstration, you can calculate angular diameter of all the relevant bodies. Same with measuring shadows since, by using angular diameter, you can determine approximate distance and size. Of course you can then also determine diameter of Earth by measuring shadows at proper times.

As fun as it might be to commit such sophistry, it just fundamentally relies on rejecting induction as evidence, and often rejecting evidence as evidence. If you do that with anything, you can believe whatever you want, so it's a kind of silly exercise.

The Incas used to pay their taxes in labour so the government literally had so much man power they had to make jobs for people. It surprised me they seem to be using less of their land for farming now than in the past while many counties are going the other direction.

I also wonder is some of the terraces were made to create stability rather than just being for food. They have a lot of mud slides when it rains which can be deadly. Maybe maintaining those terraces would help with that.

Dumb accident.

Explosions on this scale, thanks to idiots storing shit where and how they shouldn't, happen every couple of years.

If you type 'explosion in fireworks' you'll come up with multiple fireworks factories/warehouses blowing up. You'll find other explosions involving fertiliser plants, refineries and random factories.

For example, 2016 in Tianjin: an overheated container of dry nitrocellulose blew up, took the factory with it and about 160 died. Left a massive crater.

People are idiots. Always assume stupidity before malice.

Forecasted down = red.

Up = green.

It also seems like a WW3 scenario happening with the majority of the UN, Russia, China, US all taking massive losses.

Exactly. It's been available for years, and most have been scratching their heads as to why.

I suspect that this may be a World Bank open secret.

Their own documents suggest that they are planning on having this all taken care of by March 31, 2025.

See the opening/closing dates at the bottom of page 6/63 of the document linked to below.

the indians did not invite us here so that they could acquire our technology of the 1700's.

Exactly, they didn't even know what a horse or even technology was.

i know and have listened to many native indians, and i can confidently say that they wish that they had killed all of us as soon as we arrived here. but too many of whites arrived and it became overwhelming for them and they lost their entire country.

There wasn't a Native American "country", there were scores of separate warring regions. And killed "us all" for what purpose, so they could go back to exterminating each other without interference?

uhh, some of the best medicine comes from herbs, hello? and some of the worst side effects comes from pharmaceutical bullshit medicine.

Herbs don't usually work for serious medical issues. They're okay for minor things though. I'm anti pharma but I will take anti biotics for an infection over being smudged with sagebrush.

Poverty on Reservations: They get free housing, free medical care, free food and free money. They get every government program that is possible. Free tuition to get better educated to get a better job and more money. Free money to start businesses and hiring preferences, just because of the color of their skin. Those that can....do, and those that can't...just live off their monthly stipend in poverty on the reservation.

Every reservation is different, and I'm not saying that there aren't existing serious structural problems on many of them. You do realize that the reservations govern themselves? Here is a sampling of a major reason for many of the complaints on your linked video: https://missoulian.com/news/state-and-regional/ap-investigation-tribes-mismanage-funds-with-few-repercussions/article_38d37fc0-2f4f-11e3-81c2-0019bb2963f4.html Yeah, their own people are fucking them over. Do.Your.Research.

What I am saying is that they can leave the reservation anytime and get a free ride to a good paying degree with a guaranteed diversity hire position. But, most of them just won't do that...why?

Also, you seem well attuned to Native American issues. You probably then realize that Mexicans generally look down on them quite a bit. How do you reconcile embracing Mexicans when they're so racist and hateful toward Native Americans?

A hybrid is a mix, you can look that information up on a search engine. Yes, they're part European and Indian hybrids. I'm not as optimistic as you are about this imaginary rainbows and puppy dogs future you are alluding to. The more "Mexicans" there are around, the more Mexico a place becomes. It says a lot when you think of a good Mexican as being a Gangster. Do you even listen to yourself? I'm happy for you that some low Iq criminal made you feel good about yourself by saying that you "have balls". You actually have self esteem issues.

Ok, you're having your beliefs challenged and it's getting uncomfortable for you. That alright! You can't have European technology without European conquest. Did any of these Native Americans you know genuinely want to go back to subsistence living, picking berries, hunting animals, living in Teepees in the middle of winter, dying from infections/ basic injuries, no medical care except for herbs and some incantations as well as giving up knowledge of how to read or write?

This information was orally handed down from tribe elders, and from exhumed battle sites, not fabricated by Euros.

These are honest questions that would have to be answered. Most Native Americans are okay being provided free housing and free money while living a life of comparative comfort. I've spend a lot of time on Reservations, and it's a sad state of affairs, but the alternative is not acceptable to most of them either.

The Native Americans didn't just "have fights" with each other like disagreeing siblings. They brutally killed, tortured, raped, burned, slaughtered each other relentlessly for however many centuries. No one was spared, not women, babies or old people. And they stole their defeated enemies lands. Did not borrow or share, they took it. Euros were surprisingly compassionate and pushed them onto reservations once they surrendered. Native Americans would have simply slaughtered their defeated enemies and ignored their pleas for mercy.

Like user Snca said, Mexicans are generally a hybrid of European and Native American etc...and thus are not indigenous.

Also for the most part, all land was "stolen" from someone else throughout history. Native Americans mercilessly murdered each other in huge wars in order to steal their enemies lands/hunting grounds, long before Euros showed up. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_Before_Civilization

It doesn't actually make any real difference that Euros did the exact same thing by capturing their disputed land. Unless you think the color of their skin for some reason made it more of a moral transgression.

It feels that you're viewpoints on these subjects tend to be shallow. Read some history and anthropology to learn about the world around you!

All I want is a comfy little home with its own heliport surrounded by hundreds of square miles of forest like this and nobody is allowed in without my say-so. Is that asking too much?

Yeah the lighting is definitely fake. Kinda what I was getting at. Sun does not do that any of the times I've went.

I would say lightly edited for saturation, but otherwise it should be close. I've been to woods that look very close to this. Lighting does wonders for photos.

I've been to it a few times. It's pretty great but this photo is definitely edited. It's not THAT great, or at least, not as much as it's being portrayed here.

I get what you're saying. Coincidentally, I watched the film Nebraska recently, in which Mt. Rushmore appears, and it looked underwhelming there.

You know, I visited there once years ago, and I was really disappointed. The pics always make it look really in-your-face (no pun intended), but in reality the look-feel of it was small from the Visitor Center. It wasn't "bad" - just not the powerful experience I expected.
