sigh... The good old days... When the War was won, GIs were coming back from Europe and Asia and needed homes, and Government interference in everyone's lives was virtually non-existent! As I recall, a certain entrepreneur got the brilliant idea to turn five hundred acres of potato fields in Upstate New York into mass-produced cheap tract housing, thus inventing the modern suburb. Still, sixteen thousand dollars for a house back then was pretty expensive, especially since you could get a brand new Allentown two bedroom one bath ranch style tract house for six thousand dollars (100 dollars down and 100 dollars a month.) Ah, yes. The good old days, Totally destroyed by your friendly neighborhood Liberal Leftists.
