Isn't the film-maker looking at another culture through the lens of his/her own culture?

That's true, but it seems to me like he made an honest effort to learn as much about Japanese culture as he could in order to make this documentary as accurate as possible.

All right but I've noticed that when people try to explain Japan, even Japanese, they sound like the six blind men describing an elephant: it's a tree; it's a rope; it's a wall, it's a fan, etc. From Aesop who didn't write all those stories but transcribed them from the oral realm to written.

Very true. When it comes to Western people making videos about Japan, I personally only trust those who have actually been there for a length of time, learned the language, learned the customs, actually managed to get to know Japanese people, etc. Not "tourists".

I meant that they are head and shoulders taller than their grandparents and their features are becoming more Western. Also women's legs are much longer and more shapely. 🤪 Finally the connotation of alone is much less negative for Jpn than for, say, Americans.

the women aren't lonely they are highly sought after. There are a lot of NEETs in japan, all men. And that phenomenon is increasing in the USA with incels.

Is it not still lonesome? My cartoons rarely show the fruitful conclusion of relationships.

Jokes. I'm actually kind of glad that it's kept so awkwardly innocent for the most part. The hypersexualized jokes are a nice balancer to the affection autism.
