The Problem with Apu (2017) documentary
submitted 4 years ago * by JasonCarswell from self.Documentaries
" The Problem with Apu is a 2017 documentary film written by and starring comedian Hari Kondabolu and produced and directed by Michael Melamedoff. The film focuses on the character Apu Nahasapeemapetilon, an Indian immigrant in the animated sitcom The Simpsons who, for a period, was the only figure of South Asian heritage to appear regularly on mainstream U.S. television. The film explores encounters with negative stereotypes, racial microaggressions and slurs against people of Indian and South Asian heritage disseminated through the character. Wow, big discrepancy from Critics to Audience Score. Usually makes for a good watch.

Hard to say. I usually find IMDb a better gauge. With Rotten Tomatoes' "expert reviews" (the first number) usually have social-justice or media-left tendencies or agendas. And the second number, the masses, lacks the nuance of a 0-10 and only tallies each as positive or negative, so there's no indication if they like/dislike it a little or a lot.
3.6 is a terrible score for IMDb, so I don't have hope for this movie or plans to watch it. But I would be interested to hear about it, should you choose to see it.

Yeah probably a bad film, but sometimes its fun to watch the bad ones.

Indeed. I still don't understand Rise Of Skywalker.
