Thanks for taking the time to read the review and make a thoughtful comment.
As an ex member of a cult, I know what its like to have to block my ears and refuse to listen to other viewpoints. Now on the flipside, as an outsider, I see the tell tale signs of this same mentality in many parts of society.

Mind if I ask which cult?

I was a Jehovah's Witness from childhood until I was about 35 years old.

Ah.
My uncle as a teen was a bad kid. He got turned around by a JW couple. He didn't stick with it but my Grandmother stayed until she died in 2001. She was a born-again JW, the worst kind. Others I knew/know, born into it, weren't so "die-hard gotta convert everyone". I've known some good ones too, though a little daft on faith sometimes, and as with any dogma hypocritical on some things. She left most of her money to the church.
JWs or Mormons are the biggest ones, though I'd argue all organized religion is, not to mention personality politics, scientism, etc - blind faiths.
I was kinda hoping you'd say something like, The Family, that Julian Assange was raised in, who all bleach their hair. Now that's wackadoodle, terrible though not as bad as the even more extreme fringes.
On a completely different tangent:
Have you seen:

I recently saw

and it was just okay.

He sounds like a perfect target for them.
Many of them are good people who are lost in the fog.

I’ve seen The Bridge, The Tunnel, and the American version of The Killing and really enjoyed them all. I gave Dark a go but couldn’t get into it.

The thing I like about Bron/Broen / The Bridge / The Tunnel is that they start out loosely with the same initial concept, then goes on from there on completely different stories that are relevant to their regions. I can't recall if I saw the original The Killing or not. Ya, I saw Dark S01 and have no interest in S02-S03. I recommend seeing the other Bridge/Bron/Broen, you may not have seen, but don't stick with it if you can't get into it.
