Because ideologists -- in this case feminists -- feel personally attacked when anything that runs contrary to their beliefs is floated. This is why you never get a rational, reasoned discussion going; just excessive, emotion laded, and often violent responses:
"I have well researched and supported data that debunks the Wage Gap."
"Why do you hate women, Hitler?!?!?" <picks up rock>
