After watching this video, I'm thinking that a camping tent stove would be a good investment for the upcoming power failure. We have lots of free wood available here to use as a cooking fuel. He makes it look fun, but he is practicing living in survival mode, which soon will not be fun any more.

I keep a butane stove around in case we go power down here.

That's better than nothing.

Where I live, I cannot produce butane on my own property, but there are many trees that drop branches onto the ground. Those sticks are a free fuel that keeps coming back on its own.... a renewable resource.
