Crafting bone or antler into a knife handle. Any advice on material?

I'm glad that I found the sub, and I'm surprised that I didn't have it added.

I have grandiose intentions to use a beautifully knapped mahogany obsidian blade end to craft a knife for my husband. I was wondering if anyone here might have advice on the best bones to work with that would handle the task of me dremeling a hole into it.

What about mammoth bone, not sure how hard it is to work but it'd be awesome to own. I think camel bone is supposed to be easy to work with.

Hmm, I wonder about the legality of camel bone. I'll look at mammoth bone, that one sounds spendy

I'll go through there and check it out. There seems to be a debate on whether it's as good as bovine bones there.
