Yes that is the etymology of the english word for slave (the practice of slavery obviously predates 9th century AD as any bible reader knows), but Slav does not mean 'white', there are a lot of white people that are not Slavic

Slave meant slav.

White didn't have a racial connotation in that era.

"Robot" is Czech for "slave".
