      This news article is true. In 2009 William Marotta donated sperm so that a couple could have a child. They didnt use a sperm bank to do it which means he is the father of the child (instead of the couple sharing equal guardianship). The court case was in 2014 and he lost.

      However in 2016 he won https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-38159054

      A Kansas man who donated sperm to a same-sex couple is not legally the child's father and cannot be forced to pay child support, a court has ruled.

        Not exactly. The couple didnt want to sue William Marotta, but Kansas State DID want to sue him because then the state government would get free money.

        The couple made a mistake and should have used a sperm bank and had a doctor confirm their contract, then the state government couldnt sue him.

        It is the state government that caused all these problems.
