Corporatism is the belief that society should be organized into corporate groups, usually based-upon industrial sectors, and that these corporations should work in harmony.
Not to be confused with Corporate Capitalism, which has nothing to do with Corporatism.
Corporatism is opposed to the class conflict present in Capitalism and Socialism, thus is a syncretic ideology. See: s/Syncretism.
A good metaphor used to explain Corporatism is that each corporate group is an organ within a body, that body being the Nation. Just like in the human body, each organ should co-operate rather than fight against each-other.
This metaphor is where the ideology gets its name. Corpus is the Latin word for body — from which the word Corpse is derived, and the word actually used to be synonymous with body before later being associated with a dead body.
