I wondered about this. I remember reading a very weird article in early 2021. A 19-year-old girl was having trouble with Covid (some breathing issues), and her mother brought her to the hospital. Once there, she was put on oxygen, and then the hospital decided to put her (the daughter) on a ventilator. The daughter was screaming and crying in terror at the thought of being on a ventilator as she saw this as an indication that she would not recover. The 19-year-old girl was put on a ventilator, and died.

Ok, now... most 19-year-olds can recover just fine from Covid. This girl may have had complications which made her very sick, but still. If she was screaming and crying at the thought of being put on a ventilator, did she really need a ventilator? And why did she die after being put on one? Shouldn't that have helped her?

The whole article was just incredibly messed up.
