Oy vey, Israel is never gonna be a world super power if they keep poisoning their own people. Remember when a whole generation of Israelis had iodine deficiency and came out retarded?

I had no idea they had issues with iodine deficiency from desalinating water. I'm a big fan of Iodized Salt, always get annoyed at reddit peeps who think sea salt is somehow magically better. I only use plain salt if I'm pickling, since it can make the brine cloudy.

Yeah they say that iodine impacts flavor, and that larger salt flakes are more accurate and easier to apply by hand. Shoot I never use iodized salt, I probably should.

That's the culinary reason for sea salt and salt flakes, along with texture.

Also it was believed not too long ago that most hypertension was caused by excessive sodium but after years of suffering painfully bland food they realized only a few people are salt sensitive. Sea salt is coarser, so you use less with the same measuring spoon as compared to normal table salt.

My wife actually was able to tell "Himalayan sea salt" vs the iodized stuff in a blind taste test, but I can't. I doubt many at all would notice when the salt is in a recipe.

Shoot I never use iodized salt, I probably should.

Do you have another source of iodine? Fish, sea weed, eggs, and dairy are the largest natural sources. It's really important for kids. One study showed that in iodine-deficient regions of the United States in the 1920s, salt iodization raised IQ scores of millions of people by 15 IQ points.

You get plenty of iodine if you eat dairy every day.

All their lactose free fussy eating causing a problem there, as well as the water.

That's still happening in China.
