they spread it to old fat people tho who then do have a 1% chance of dying

Kids don't really spread it either.

I'd say they obviously do as they spread all sorts of germs, they're dirty, sneeze and cough without covering their mouth a lot, etc. But then we're back to only old fat people being at risk so it doesn't really matter. Parents who have small children will know what I mean.
