I actually find mask wearing gives you a false sense of superiority and that's something I've heard from my exmuslim friends as well. They didn't want to wear the niqab because they were scared of men seeing their faces but because it made them feel superior to women who didn't wear it. You see the same mentally in pro-mask people and how they speak about others.
