I decided to make spaghetti for a few reasons, I already had the base sauce from pizza I had made, and we haven't gone on a big meat shopping trip in a while so spaghetti is a good way to stretch out ground beef. As a general rule I am just a fan of cheap dishes, I really like when each portion only costs .50 or less.
So that brings me to the messed up spaghetti. I did the sauce first since it was mostly there from pizza sauce, just need meat and more seasoning. Then I cooked the noodles. I was doing this in two batches. The first batch I used the rest of one package of noodles and made that up in tupperware for the wife's lunch, since that saves about a grand a year over her eating out.
I wasn't hungry yet, so I did the same exact thing a bit later, which wasn't great logistically but actually worked out in my favor. Same exact thing. I go to eat my spaghetti and the noodles are uncooked!
I thought about what happened, tried the wife's noodles to see if they were hard too, but they were fine. Thinking of anything different between the two dishes I remembered I had opened a new box of noodles. Noodles that did not cook the same as the other box, despite being the same damn noodle.
So at least I only ruined one of the dishes. I tried microwaving it but that only did so much, then I just ate the sauce off the top with as few uncooked noodles as I could manage.
Morale of the story, taste your noodles before you cover them in sauce. They also didn't look right, so extra stupid points for me today.
