I think that people shouldn't fear the idea of having absolute certain philosophical truth. When it comes to the way a nation is run, even if people are taught nationalistic values, it can become rather difficult for people to follow their duties or truly believe in them if they are given too much freedom. People may help in their own way in a time of emergency when it comes to the good of the nation, but are they truly given it their all? who gets to decide what those limits really are?
I suppose this is one of the reasons why religion really needs to rule the values of society. Our lives are inevitably linked to suffering regardless of it. Kierkegaard and Nietzsche thought that humanity was doomed to be defined by the hero archetype and I agree.
