How is it so far?

It's OK. Nice place, nice people. I'm just a bit worried about the practicalities of sorting out my immigration status, as I am quite far from an immigration office here. Maybe I should have stayed in Mexico City for a while.

And you can always keep voting in the US elections because it's not like they are going to ask for ID.

I think most people have sentimental attachments to the place where they currently live, but they have no sentimental attachment to a place they have never visited. Why move somewhere just because you imagine that it will be better?

That's what the Jews in Europe thought before the Holocaust.

Perhaps because you imagine it will be better in the sense of not being horribly killed, because that is what you are facing. But of course you don't have to do this. Do something else that makes sense for you, but for heavens sake do something.

I will start visiting regularly. Those who can't move right now should at least visit to see what it is like. I live in El Paso. If anyone wants to visit from the US but doesn't want to pay a fortune to fly to Chihuahua City, you can fly to El Paso and I can take you the rest of the way.

I might take you up on this if you are willing. Would you be around sometime towards the end of the month?

The last weekend of this month should work. If you want to talk to me and the 2 guys in Mexico, you can join our Old Testament reading.

My wife and I lived there for nearly two years and loved it. If you've never been there you will probably be surprised at how livable it is. We had to move out because she needs to be close to home due to family matters but may go back once this crisis is over. Mexico is FREE compared compared to the US and the border is hours to a couele of days from where you are.
