Are you concerned that Mexico is deeply within the USA's sphere of influence? Not to oversell anyone's importance, but if the American regime decided it wanted you, it wouldn't take much to turn the Mexican authorities into obedient pawns. It's a lot to be counting on the Eye of Sauron to be looking away forever.

The USA can take out whoever they want almost anywhere in the world. But this area is quite remote and is relatively free of modern influence. I have traveled widely and I haven't seen anything better.
