Hi everyone, been thinking about this topic for a while, even before COVID. Just about every country now requires wearing masks, and COVID/PCR testing. Still worth it to move abroad anyway?

Different countries and jurisdictions enforce these things differently. Although masks are a good litmus test of sanity/insanity, they are not the only factor. Testing is almost universal for crossing borders, but you yet so for going about your daily business. What matters is your personal situation and priorities, and where you will fit in best.

The reason for this sub is that some of us have come to the conclusion that we have a better chance of survival outside America.

The only way to judge a country is to visit. This is what I am doing, and I will post reports to this sub.

Duh. You just figured this out Mr. Smarty Pants? The borders are open to Mexico. Bring a passport and get a six-month visa. You are going to have a helluva time getting permanent residence in Mexico and the sames goes for a bank account.

Have you looked around this sub? Mexico's covid nonsense makes it a questionable choice. I will look at Costa Rica this week.

I would like to apologize for my obnoxious remarks a few days ago. I was not myself due to disturbing current events and having consumed a bit of alcohol. I think your sub performs a useful service. The interactive world map you linked to was especially useful and I shared it with a few friends. Thank you.

Can US citizens enter Costa Rica now? If so, someone wishing to get out of the US could go to Mexico first and then on to Costa Rica before deciding which is better for them I'm not certain but people have told me that Costa Rica is more expensive than Mexico. I was living in Mexico until six years ago and, then, found it quite livable on my income, none of which comes from the US. I do apologize if I was snide about the man in your link but I have been saying the same thing for years and heeding my own advice by living in Asia. In fact, what he is saying is, in my opinion true and it is time to make your escape plans.
