Good art. Sadly a throwaway character created solely to troll fans of the real Captain Marvel. He's mostly known for dying, which was done as a way to get rid of a character that didn't sell and nobody had any use for because Starlin needed the therapeutic exercise. His death bothers me on a multitude of levels.
1) Death in meaningless in Marvel, keeping him dead is just weird because there's no objective reason for it. Trying to use Captain Marvel to show the trauma of real death fails because death is just teleporting to another dimension in Marvel. Authors simply cannot make its stick in this universe and it feels contrived and silly to make him the exception. Especially because,
2) nobody cared about him until he died. All of a sudden characters in universe care so much about his death, somehow magically knew it was the one death that's permanent, and are moved by it even though they never knew this throwaway Kree space cop and he was never especially powerful or relevant to anything that happened when he was alive.
3) His death makes no sense. Cosmic awareness and matter manipulation are ubiquitous in that titles, curing cancer or simply replacing the damaged organs with cloned or synthetic parts should have been easy.
I know authors want to use death as drama and reflect the real world struggles of disease and loss, but they're in the wrong universe and picked the wrong way to do it. I am personally annoyed that I spent $25 to be Stalin's.
The Death of Captain Marvel only makes sense if you pretend it takes place in an alternate universe. In Marvel, it's just goofy.
there doesn't seem to be anything here
