The whole idea of a manga based on the lives of Christ and Buddha living in the suburbs of present-day Tokyo is pretty amazing in itself but some of the details are hilarious. For example, Jesus has a blog and is on Twitter. They are both on Instagram and the apostles are game addicts.

omg I'm up to book 4 and can't stop. It's SO good. The start I was... "yeah I don't know" but I persisted and I'm so glad I did. Haven't read a graphic novel since my 20's so here I am 20 years later laughing my ass off as Jesus tells Budha to think of tinkerbell's short skirt to reduce his enlightenment and stop glowing in public. Thank you for the recommendation.

Sure. At some point they have a standup comedy routine. Glad you like it.

Stonetoss is alright, I think. There are some funny nonwoke comics strips. It does tend to be fairly on the conservative side though, I think. Don't really read it often.

Do webcomics count?

Incomplete:

  • Algorithm by Olha Bondarenko might qualify.
  • God's Revelation on comicfury would probably qualify as not woke. It's not professional-quality but I think the story once it gets going is nice, and I like the themes.
  • The Wormworld Saga might quality, it seems to include elements of heroism. It's about a young boy. Beautifully presented.

Complete:

  • A Redtail's Dream is Finnish and ... more Finnish than woke. It's older the most recent wave of woke stuff. And sometimes "politically incorrect".
  • Scurry is about a colony of mice, and doesn't seem very woke at first blush, but there could be an argument made that it has some woke themes.

I’ll be honest I really loved Almost Human on webtoon. From the outside it might seem woke (lesbian love story about a black and white character) but honestly it’s just beautiful. It’s sci-fi as well and aside from the art being gorgeous beyond belief, it’s generally really satisfying and is basically a love story between a very customisable Android and a very uncustomisable but still beautiful Apple

I like some on Webtoons.

The Weight of our Sky

Lore Olympus

Just Pancakes - the funniest comic I read in a long time.
