God told Israel to obey HIS commandments and they would possess the Promised Land flowing with milk and honey.

But Israel and Judah refused to do so and they were destroyed by their enemies due to idolatry. They were all driven to Babylon from where they would latter return.

Israel (the northern kingdom/the house of Ephraim) was overthrown by the Assyrians centuries before the house of Judah was overthrown by Babylon.

I know, Israel, which was HQ:d in Samaria were vile idolaters. Jeroboam I erected 2 (!) golden calves in Bethel and Dan, Ahab and Jezebel also were from Israel, they worshipped Baal and Asherah and erected (pun intended) high places everywhere.

Judah followed God's commands better but still did idolatry. Israel was destroyed and Judah was sent to Babylon.

Yes. Israel was scattered and became known as ‘the lost sheep’
