Sermons need to be limited to ten minutes or less with no repetition of statements. I've heard so many good sermons degrade due to the pastor being so repetitive it was annoying. Make a point once. Don't beat it to death. You lose the crowd that way.

The modern setup of churches is modeled after Catholicism and is designed to control people. I know some protestant churches don't have this intention but they still use this system which is pointless otherwise. Originally churches were actual meetings held in secret, not a bunch of lectures.
