Joan's cult of personality was opposed by the leaders of the French Revolution as she was a devout Catholic who had served the monarchy. They banned the yearly celebration of the lifting of the Siege of Orléans, and Joan's relics, including her sword and banner, were destroyed. A statue of Joan erected by the people of Orléans in 1571 (to replace one destroyed by Protestants in 1568) was melted down and made into a cannon.

I hope posting this link is OK.

My intention in creating that Hail Mary sub is to bring people, regardless of faith or non-faith, together to talk about and learn about Mary in at least three different ways: learning about her, learning about devotion to her, and learning about her apparitions. The goal obviously is to Jesus, as they say to Jesus through Mary. Many have found their way via that route. Besides my intention though, my hope is that God will have a purpose for the sub in some small way. Please check it out. It is "restricted" because there are a lot of trolls.
