Now you can say you've read 1000 chapters of a book last week.

Chapter 111: The Devil You Know p. 65

I already touched on this last chapter. This is more of the action scene. The author jumps around a bit, but it works, flows well. I suppose that's pacing.

But I had chosen this hidey-hole not only for its tactical advantage, but because it also had a back door.

That's interesting. The timelessness of these robots, that it would just happen to set up escape routes and traps just in case they ever need them in the future at random places. Cause it didn't sound at first like Brit had ever been here before.

I slipped through the door at the very back of the store and switched on the LEDs in my sockets. I hated using them—they were a dead giveaway—but it was too dark for night vision, and thermal imaging wasn’t going to be able to discern what I was looking for.

It does occur to me that a robot wouldn't need to keep a light on for more than a brief moment to capture an image of the room to be able to maneuver.

The bedding was exactly as I’d left it, identical to the snapshot stored in my memory.

But the LEDs are still on...

I was going to have to kill each and every one of these motherfuckers. One. By. One.

“She ain’t here!”

I often forget Brit is supposed to be a fembot. They don't really have genders.

the sound of the thermite drilled into the concrete and marble of the massive walkway one level above us, each stick of it connected to a Wi-Fi receiver set to, you guessed it, 4.5 MHz.

Good thing Brit thought to plant a trap here. Like when did "she" decide this was a good use of her time, and where'd she get the gear?

I ran

They're the exact same robot, why run? I guess the story would end here otherwise. Brit kills the red shirts, who outmatch him, but runs from his equal. Then she takes damage, has a weapon, and Mercer has the battery she needs. All the parts she needs. Should have taken him out here.

I had a lot of shit pop up, I think book club discussions work better near the beginning of weeks for me.

Chapter 1000: Genesis 6:7 p 84

That is a great chapter. I fucking love when the redneck pisses on the robot. And it's weird, because these are the guys who were right about everything, but they're spoken of derogatorily.

On a general note on the book, I think this one might be so light as to not have a whole lot to discuss. Still glad we picked it. A note on bookclub itself, even generating a relative lot of upvotes didn't get more participants in book club.

Chapter 1001: NIKE 14 p 90

We meet Orval the Necromancer! He's only a bit character but he's the crazy prophet robot. And we meet Doc, who is a pretty important character.

But when you wander in from a salvage all busted up, it didn’t look good.

And Doc is not cool with Brit's style at all.

Hey u/Hongkongphooey, what are your thoughts on these chapters? My phone is about to die, gotta continue this later.
