Full text of my post about how women in Myanmar and everywhere are in danger as a result of male-dominated societies:

"The scariest part about the military takeover of Myanmar is the inevitable murder, assault, and rape against women and children due to a male-dominated society. Nearly all male-dominated civilizations, primarily military-run, commit such horrific atrocities towards women and children - perpetuated by men, of course. Here in the US we are insulted by it because women have power in politics. Even if not many women are in government, our ability to vote gives us some power that keeps us safer. Not to mention that the MAIN reason why rape is outlawed in a lot of societies is because MEN wanted to protect their 'property' - i.e. their wives and daughters - from being 'contaminated' by other men.

I just can never forget the descriptions and images I saw of the Rape of Nanjing, some of the most horrific atrocities man has committed. The Holocaust too. The World Wars. If you read into ALL major conflicts and wars that have happened since the dawn of humanity, women are always left to suffer the most. Rape, torture, abuse, assault, and murder. Children are attacked too, but women are treated like the 'spoils of war' for enemy forces' sick, sadistic entertainment. I worry greatly for the women of Myanmar right now. There are already several articles about gang-rapes and I'm sure most have been covered up already.

I am very young and know not much of worldly affairs, but history will always repeat itself, especially when it comes to misogyny. No matter the era or society, when there is a collapse and a male-dominated military force takes control, women suffer the most at the hands of sick men. I am fortunate not to live in a country where my life is currently in immediate and grave danger, but I will never forget how easy it is to lose this false sense of safety."
