I found the link at mumsnet but the thread discussing it was deleted because "the thread was too specific about an individual and it probably hurts his fucking feelings for anybody to talk about why he shouldn't be there".

I AM FUCKING ANGRY. btw.

here's another comment from the deleted thread (page 5, the only page from that thread which i still have open)

It's worth being aware that targeting prison services for trans inclusion (and by that we all know they mean women's services) isn't random. It's part of a thought out strategy to capture services with the most vulnerable women who have no voice then on the back of this 'success' sell it to the wider public sector. Attached picture is a contribution by James Morton (Scottish Trans Alliance) from the Christine Burns book Trans Britain. It lays out the strategy.

Here's another comment from that thread. Unfortunately the open page I still have open my browser is page 5 and the best ones were on page 2.

Because of this story I can see why colleagues may not want to say anything about this appointment. This BBC news story is from 2016.

Sussex Police apology over hate crime letter

A nurse who reported a transphobic hate crime has received an apology from the chief constable of Sussex Police after the force addressed her as "Mr". Rachel Dios was sent a letter addressed to "Mr Dios" after she reported an incident of verbal abuse by a group of men in Chichester, West Sussex. She shared the letter on Facebook and Twitter, saying: "I think you need to review your response."

Chief Constable Giles York replied: "I'm so sorry we got this wrong."
