Been feeling overwhelmed and stress out with personal stuff and work related things in my life.

Hoping to do a 180 soon after saving money, to get to where I want to be. Been neglecting self care, and need to find time. I miss having time to myself sometimes. I feel more productive whenever I have space to do so with no distractions. Maybe the next place partner and I get, we can have our own mancave/laddylair lol.

I have a goal of finishing my degree in a particular STEM subject, which is something I happen to do as a hobby anyways, so it shouldn't be too bad this time around...now that I'm older and less reckless.

Apart from that, I've been overthinking some things that I do. For example, I was really interested in obtainig environmental friendly products to reduce waste, and buying ethical clothes that weren't made in the sweatshop but...I feel like I'm never doing enough. I gave up on being 100% and have a hard time keeping up. I used to recycle all the time and buy second hand clothes etc. But idk, I feel like a hypocrite...

I've also thought about some feminist points, despite not being feminist lol. But I was wondering if putting on makeup(even if rarely) is a decision that I MADE or if it's society making me...with radfeminism, they say "don't shave, don't wear makeup, don't do XYZ" but then I feel they're hypocritical when they colour/fix their hair nice, or basically shaming women who do those things when they're supposed to be "for" women. They say makeup is a "man's invention" but from the research I saw, makeup used to be used for pratical reasons(plus men wear it too, especially in coubtries like South Korea or celebrities), same as wearing (regular) heels, it had a practical purpise back then. I'll link the pages I saw later and maybe some extra articles too lol.

I just overthink things a lot of the time...

It's great that you want to finish your degree. Good luck!

Maybe it doesn't make any dent in ongoing environmental destruction and climate change, but as individuals, trying to be ethical consumers and reduce/reuse/recycle is marginally better than not trying. It'll never be enough, but unless we all suddenly decide to globally revolt and halt the endless capitalist consumption machine we are a part of, I guess it's all we can do.

I am a feminist & not interested in convincing other women not to wear makeup because they need to reach some conclusions on their own. But at the end of the day I think the questions you should ask yourself are: Do I want to wear makeup? Do I feel like putting it on today? There's all kinds of reasons women have for why they put it on anyway even when they don't feel like it or don't think it's necessary (like going to the gym or even being at home alone in their bedrooms). I think you should just not wear it sometimes, give your face a chance to "breathe" after having cosmetics covering your skin all week, and appreciate how your real face looks too.

Now I'm gonna be obnoxious because I can't keep my thoughts to myself: I would like to say that the aim is not to "shame" women, but to liberate us from unrealistic beauty standards and unhealthy media images of women that are increasingly divorced from reality. Sometimes literally, with photoshopping and filters. And that the makeup industry, an industry built on creating insecurities in women specifically and driving us to spend large amounts of money on cosmetics, is playing us like a fiddle! We can be "for" women while pointing out that not everything a woman does is a healthy/empowered choice ;-)
