This sub is basically Ephesians 5:22-33. It's all about being a modest, pious and submitting to our husbands.

What does "submit" mean? To whom and by whom is it done? Under what circumstances? That's what I'm asking. It is very easy to tell a nice story with pleasant pictures and words and implications of good outcomes, but nice pictures and pleasant words can also be used to paint a good picture over something bad. I'm asking for the unembelished full statement of what this sub is advocating people do.

It means not always doing what you want to do. It means putting God's desires above your desires.

In a marriage a faithful husband willing lays down his life for his wife. He abandons his own will, affections, and needs for her sake. A loving husband submits his will to that of Christ, and, in doing so, imitates Jesus' relationship with the church in his marriage relationship. In this context, the wife willingly surrenders to her husband just as her husband chooses to surrender his will to Christ.

The man is the leader of the household. Colossians 3: 18-25 outline the various roles in within household. So we mold ourselves to our husbands, we confirm to their needs and support their opinions and endeavors before indulging any of our own.

Thank you for the reply. I appreciate having the position stated openly and clearly.

I've copied a translation of Colossians 3: 18-25 for convenience here:

18 Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.

19 Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.

20 Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.

21 Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged.

22 Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything; and do it, not only when their eye is on you and to curry their favor, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord. 23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. 25 Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for their wrongs, and there is no favoritism.

I am not really sure. I am a Christian woman and more interested in how to be a better wife.
