Good for Yao Ming if what that comment says is true, he knows how they treat Asian players in the west. Shaquille O'neal literally made Ching Chong noises at him and nobody gave a flying fuck.

yao ming was sort of like a proto-jeremy lin, despite the difference in native vs ABC, Yao was a trailblazer in many ways. ironically, hes from shanghai but goddamn if he doesn't have a classic northern sino-tibetan phenotype who does?

Key difference is Yao Ming just like Son Heungmin and Shohei Ohtani are not diaspora raised Asians, but JL is and knows the struggle very well. The guest players from Asia will most likely just feel thankful they have been invited and not touch the racism issue with a 10 foot pole, and any racist slight against them is just a little temporary segment of their life.
