And while we're on the subject of language, what is "main" about the self styled "mainstream media" which promote fear of "terrorism" and suggest that "counter terrorism" is the best way to tackle it?
Are the modern media giants broadly in line with a middle-of-the-road consensus world view, or is public confidence in them at an all time low because people see them as the tools of an extremely small plutocratic elite?
If the latter, then I suggest "corporate media", "old media" or "legacy media" might be a more honest label.
