Door thresholds can trigger a shift in thought in humans. We see doors as passages to a different area, and discard thoughts from the other room.

So if you push someone through a doorway, you can really mess with them

Only when I'm stoned. I'll go in the garage for a screwdriver and half an hour later I'm playing darts.

Time is better spent playing darts anyway, kudos to the stoned brain

Not when you have a faucet spraying across your kitchen.

So when you go through any doorway you run the risk of entering a different timeline. You don't forget what you went in for rather what you went in for is no longer relevant. Your brain has to quickly make something up before you realise what happened. If you go back through the doorway to where you started from fast enough you can jump back into your original timeline where your purpose for going through the for makes sense and it will come back to you.

The older you get, the more this will happen. Double the effect if you are tired. Take it from one who knows.

Sometimes I'm searching my glasses only to realize some minutes later, I actually am wearing them.

I don't wear contact-lenses for the same reason. When I wear them, I almost always forget to take them out, before going to sleep.

Yes.

Basically this happens when I'm multitasking. When I am in the process of one task, another task becomes the focus. As I'm finishing the task, I forget the final steps. Going into a room is purely mechanical and doesn't require much thinking. What you where gonna do in that room becomes the problem.

If you have this be a problem to you, start a diary and to-do lists, make daily routines.

A good exercise is to try to describe what a door is. Yes, I do that at least once a day.

Yes. I got over it by making up a mantra "beer, piss, smokes; beer, piss, smokes; beer, piss, smokes; beer, piss, smokes; beer, piss, smokes".
